Overview

Family Dollar #2813 in Orlando was inspected once on October 25, 2022 in response to a consumer complaint, resulting in 11 violations. The facility was operating beyond the scope of its food permit — it had been licensed as a minor outlet for prepackaged foods only but was selling time-temperature controlled for safety food items (perishables) without the required permit upgrade. The inspector documented a priority violation for improper storage of non-food items: supplements were stored beneath eye drops on retail shelves, and vitamin energy drinks were stored under car air freshener bottles, creating cross-contamination risk. The person in charge moved both items to proper locations during the inspection (corrected on site). Five priority foundation violations were also cited: the person in charge could not correctly answer questions about foodborne illness prevention, employees were unaware of their responsibility to report illness, the establishment had no written procedures for cleaning and disinfecting vomit or diarrhea, and no probe thermometer was available for temperature verification. The facility was directed to remit payment for the correct permit fee within 10 days. The inspection was completed with a trainee present and all violations verified by the primary inspector.
