ORLANDO, FL. State inspectors emergency-closed China Lee on S Kirkman Road on April 28 after finding roach and rodent activity at the restaurant, one of 15 Orlando-area facilities cited for high-severity violations during the week of April 28 through May 4, 2026.

China Lee's closure was the week's sharpest action, but it was not the week's worst inspection record. That distinction belongs to a Vietnamese restaurant a few miles east on Colonial Drive.

Viet-Nomz at 11798 E Colonial Drive drew 10 high-severity violations and 3 intermediate violations during the inspection week, the highest single-facility tally in Orlando's records for this period. Inspectors cited the restaurant for having no responsible person in charge on the premises, for employees not reporting illness symptoms, for food sourced from unapproved or unknown suppliers, and for food contact surfaces that were not properly cleaned or sanitized.

The violations at Viet-Nomz extended further. Inspectors documented food in poor condition or adulterated, inadequate shell stock identification records for shellfish, improper hand and arm washing technique, and food not cooked to the required minimum temperature. Eight distinct high-severity categories in one visit.

Bachata Breeze Restaurant on Curry Ford Road followed with 8 high-severity violations, including toxic chemicals improperly stored or labeled near food areas, employees not reporting illness symptoms, no written employee health policy, and food sourced from unapproved suppliers. Inspectors also noted that the restaurant posted no consumer advisory for raw or undercooked menu items.

PRS Taco Palace on W Smith Street recorded 7 high-severity violations. No person in charge was present or performing duties during the inspection. Inspectors also cited the facility for improper sewage or wastewater disposal, food from unapproved sources, and toxic chemicals stored improperly.

Cantina Catrina at 8001 S Orange Blossom Trail also drew 7 high-severity violations, among them food not cooked to required minimum temperatures and food in poor or adulterated condition. No consumer advisory for raw or undercooked foods was posted, and toxic chemicals were found improperly stored.

Landmark Center / Omega Deli at 315 Robinson Avenue rounded out the seven-violation tier. Inspectors cited the downtown deli for parasite destruction procedures not being followed for fish or other susceptible proteins, food from unapproved sources, employees not reporting illness symptoms, and improper sewage disposal.

The Rest of the Field

Kabsah on S Orange Blossom Trail drew 6 high-severity violations including food from unapproved sources, improperly stored toxic chemicals, no consumer advisory for raw foods, and an improper sanitizing solution concentration documented during the visit.

Corazon Cocina Mexicana at 6800 Visitors Circle was cited for 6 high-severity violations including no allergen awareness demonstrated by staff, food from unapproved sources, and improper sewage disposal. Inspectors also found the sanitizing solution concentration to be inadequate.

Kizuna Asian Buffet and Sushi at 12173 S Apopka Vineland Road drew 6 high-severity violations including inadequate shell stock identification records for its sushi operation, toxic chemicals stored improperly, and employees not reporting illness symptoms. Inspectors also documented inadequate ventilation and lighting in the facility.

VanBarry's Public House on S Orange Avenue was cited for 6 high-severity violations including parasite destruction procedures not followed for fish, food from unapproved sources, and inadequate cold holding equipment. Improper sewage disposal was also documented.

El Patron at 12167 S Apopka Vineland Road drew 6 high-severity violations including food not cooked to required minimum temperatures, food from unapproved sources, and toxic chemicals stored improperly. Improper sewage disposal and inadequate ventilation were among the intermediate violations.

Unreserved at 14900 Chelonia Parkway recorded 6 high-severity violations including inadequate shell stock identification records, food not cooked to required minimum temperatures, and no allergen awareness demonstrated by staff.

ATL Deli on W Colonial Drive drew 6 high-severity violations with no intermediate violations alongside them. Inspectors cited the deli for parasite destruction procedures not followed, no allergen awareness, no employee health policy, and food contact surfaces not properly cleaned.

Bikkuri Sushi Noodle and Grill on E Colonial Drive was cited for 5 high-severity violations including food from unapproved sources, employees not reporting illness symptoms, and no consumer advisory for raw or undercooked items. Improper sewage disposal and inadequate cooling equipment were among the intermediate citations.

What These Violations Mean

The employee illness reporting failures documented this week at Viet-Nomz, Bachata Breeze, Kizuna Asian Buffet, Bikkuri Sushi, and Lechonera Orlando carry the most direct outbreak risk of any violation category. Norovirus, which causes the majority of foodborne illness outbreaks in the United States, spreads most efficiently when a symptomatic worker handles ready-to-eat food. A single infected employee working a full shift can expose dozens of customers before anyone knows there is a problem.

Food from unapproved or unknown sources, cited at Viet-Nomz, Bachata Breeze, PRS Taco Palace, Cantina Catrina, Landmark Center / Omega Deli, Kabsah, Corazon Cocina Mexicana, VanBarry's Public House, El Patron, and Bikkuri Sushi, eliminates the traceability that makes outbreak investigations possible. When a customer gets sick and inspectors try to identify the source ingredient, unapproved suppliers have no documentation to trace. Listeria, Salmonella, and E. coli have all been linked to food moving through unregulated supply chains.

Parasite destruction failures at Landmark Center / Omega Deli, VanBarry's Public House, ATL Deli, and Lechonera Orlando are particularly relevant at facilities serving raw or lightly cooked fish. Without documented freezing protocols, parasites including Anisakis in fish and Trichinella in pork are not neutralized before reaching the plate. Customers who consume affected fish can develop anisakiasis, a painful gastrointestinal infection that sometimes requires surgical removal of the parasite.

The toxic chemical storage violations documented at Bachata Breeze, China Lee, PRS Taco Palace, Cantina Catrina, Kabsah, Kizuna Asian Buffet, VanBarry's Public House, El Patron, and Landmark Center / Omega Deli represent a direct contamination pathway. Cleaning chemicals stored above or adjacent to food preparation surfaces can fall, spill, or drip. Mislabeled containers create a second hazard: a worker reaching for one product and using another.

The Longer Record

China Lee, which was emergency-closed April 28, has 67 prior inspections on record, the longest inspection history of any facility flagged this week. That volume of inspections across a restaurant's operating life is not inherently alarming, but roach and rodent activity at a facility with that many prior regulatory contacts raises a specific question: what did those prior inspections document, and whether pest issues appeared in earlier records.

Kizuna Asian Buffet and Sushi has 41 prior inspections on record. Lechonera Orlando has 38. Viet-Nomz and Kabsah each have 36. These are not new restaurants encountering their first scrutiny. Each has been through the inspection cycle dozens of times, and each produced a high-severity violation list this week.

Cantina Catrina has 19 prior inspections on record, and Unreserved has just 14, the lowest count among the 15 facilities flagged. Both are relatively newer to the inspection cycle. Unreserved's 6 high-severity violations in its 14th inspection, including inadequate shell stock records and no allergen awareness, suggest the facility has not built compliance habits in its early operating period.

Corazon Cocina Mexicana, with 23 prior inspections, was cited for no allergen awareness this week. Allergen failures are among the most consequential a kitchen can produce: 32 million Americans have food allergies, and a single mislabeled dish or uninformed server can send a customer to an emergency room. Corazon Cocina Mexicana's 23 inspections have not yet produced a documented resolution of that gap.
