ORLANDO, FL. Two restaurants on South Orange Blossom Trail were ordered closed on the same day last week, both for roach and fly activity, as state inspectors documented high-severity violations at 15 Orlando-area facilities during the week of April 23, 2026.

Bambu Mexican Restaurant Inc at 5731 S Orange Blossom Trail and Taqueria Ameca Margarita LLC at 4400 S Orange Blossom Trail each received emergency closure orders on April 23. Both were shuttered for the same combination of roach and fly activity, on the same corridor, on the same morning.

Bachata Breeze Restaurant on Curry Ford Road led all facilities this week with 10 high-severity violations and 2 intermediate, the highest single-facility count in the city during this inspection period. Inspectors cited the restaurant for having no person in charge present or performing duties, no employee health policy, employees not reporting illness symptoms, inadequate handwashing, improper handwashing technique, food from an unapproved or unknown source, food in poor condition or adulterated, and food contact surfaces not properly cleaned or sanitized.

Taverna Opa Orlando on International Drive recorded 9 high-severity violations. Among the most serious: food not cooked to the required minimum temperature, inadequate shell stock identification records for shellfish, no employee health policy, an employee not reporting illness symptoms, and improper use of time as a public health control.

Zen Dumpling on North Alafaya Trail drew 8 high-severity violations. Inspectors found inadequate handwashing facilities, food not cooked to the required minimum temperature, no shell stock identification records, toxic chemicals improperly stored, no consumer advisory for raw or undercooked foods, and no allergen awareness demonstrated by staff.

JoJo's Shake Bar at 9101 International Drive, which shares the International Drive corridor with Taverna Opa, also logged 8 high-severity violations. The shake bar was cited for food in poor condition, food not cooked to the required minimum temperature, food contact surfaces not properly cleaned, toxic substances improperly stored, and no allergen awareness demonstrated.

Mama Lau and OC LLC on West Colonial Drive was cited for 7 high-severity violations, including food from an unapproved or unknown source, required procedures for specialized processes not followed, food not cooked to the required minimum temperature, toxic chemicals improperly stored, and no consumer advisory for raw or undercooked foods.

PRS Taco Palace on West Smith Street also drew 7 high-severity violations. Inspectors cited no person in charge, no employee health policy, food from an unapproved source, toxic chemicals improperly stored, no consumer advisory for raw or undercooked foods, and improper sewage or wastewater disposal.

Landmark Center / Omega Deli on Robinson Avenue rounded out the seven-violation tier. The deli was cited for no employee health policy, employees not reporting illness symptoms, food from an unapproved source, parasite destruction procedures not followed, food contact surfaces not properly cleaned, and toxic substances improperly stored. Inspectors also noted improper sewage or wastewater disposal.

Bento on North Alafaya Trail was cited for 7 high-severity violations including inadequate shell stock identification records, parasite destruction procedures not followed, food from an unapproved source, toxic chemicals improperly stored, and improper use of time as a public health control.

East Wok on Landstar Boulevard drew 7 high-severity violations. Inspectors found inadequate handwashing facilities, improper handwashing technique, parasite destruction procedures not followed, food contact surfaces not properly cleaned, and toxic chemicals improperly stored. The facility also lacked adequate cooling equipment.

Gators Dockside on New Broad Street was cited for 7 high-severity violations: employees not reporting illness, food from an unapproved source, food contact surfaces not properly cleaned, food not cooked to the required minimum temperature, improper use of time as a public health control, no consumer advisory for raw or undercooked foods, and toxic chemicals improperly stored.

China Lee on South Kirkman Road recorded 5 high-severity and 5 intermediate violations. The intermediate list included improper sewage or wastewater disposal, multi-use utensils not properly cleaned, and single-use items improperly reused. High-severity citations included toxic chemicals improperly stored and no consumer advisory for raw or undercooked foods.

Corazon Cocina Mexicana on Visitors Circle drew 6 high-severity violations including food from an unapproved source, no allergen awareness demonstrated, and improper sewage disposal. Kabsah on South Orange Blossom Trail matched that count, with inspectors noting food from an unapproved source, toxic chemicals improperly stored, and improper sewage or wastewater disposal alongside inadequate sanitizing procedures.

Orient Cafe on South Semoran Boulevard was cited for 6 high-severity violations, including inadequate shell stock identification records, food contact surfaces not properly cleaned, toxic chemicals improperly stored, and no consumer advisory for raw or undercooked foods.

Volcano Hot Pot and BBQ on International Drive had the lowest count among facilities flagged this week, with 2 high-severity violations: no person in charge present or performing duties, and toxic chemicals improperly stored.

What These Violations Mean

The single most common violation across all 15 facilities this week was improper handwashing, whether inadequate technique, missing facilities, or employees simply not washing at all. At Bachata Breeze, Zen Dumpling, East Wok, and a dozen other locations, inspectors documented this failure in combination with other high-severity citations. Hands carry pathogens directly from raw food, surfaces, and employees' bodies onto everything they touch next, including the food going to your table.

The food-from-unapproved-source violation, cited at Bachata Breeze, Mama Lau, PRS Taco Palace, Landmark Center / Omega Deli, Bento, Gators Dockside, Corazon Cocina Mexicana, and Kabsah, means those facilities were receiving food that bypassed USDA or FDA inspection. If a customer gets sick, investigators have no supply chain to trace. There is no recall mechanism. The origin of the food is simply unknown.

Parasite destruction failures at Landmark Center / Omega Deli, Bento, and East Wok represent a specific and underreported risk. Fish served raw or lightly cooked can carry Anisakis worms and tapeworm larvae. The protocol to kill them, specific freezing temperatures held for specific durations, exists precisely because cooking alone is not always sufficient. When that protocol is skipped, the parasites can survive to the plate.

The shellfish traceability failures at Taverna Opa, Zen Dumpling, Bento, and Orient Cafe carry a similar logic. Shellfish are filter feeders that concentrate whatever pathogens are in the water around them. Without shell stock identification tags, there is no way to determine the harvest location or date if a customer becomes ill with Vibrio or hepatitis A.

The Longer Record

China Lee on South Kirkman Road has the longest inspection history of any facility flagged this week, with 65 prior inspections on record. That volume alone speaks to how long the restaurant has been operating under regulatory scrutiny. This week's combination of improper sewage disposal, single-use items being reused, and toxic chemicals improperly stored adds to a file that spans decades.

Orient Cafe on South Semoran Boulevard has 42 prior inspections on record and was cited again this week for shell stock recordkeeping failures, unsanitized food contact surfaces, and improperly stored chemicals. Kabsah on South Orange Blossom Trail has 36 prior inspections. Both facilities show the same categories of violations that appear in the records of facilities half their age.

JoJo's Shake Bar, with only 9 prior inspections on record, is among the newest facilities on this week's list. It still managed 8 high-severity violations, including food not cooked to the required minimum temperature and no allergen awareness demonstrated. Volcano Hot Pot and BBQ, with 10 prior inspections, also flagged a person-in-charge absence this week.

Bachata Breeze, with 31 prior inspections and 10 high-severity violations this week, had no responsible manager present when inspectors arrived. That absence, combined with the breadth of what inspectors found, from unapproved food sources to adulterated product to unsanitized surfaces, suggests the failures were not isolated. Whether those 31 prior inspections produced any lasting correction in food safety practices at the Curry Ford Road location is a question the record does not yet answer.
