ORLANDO, FL. Juicy Bites at 12125 Apopka Vineland Road drew 10 high-severity violations during the week of August 1, including citations for food sourced from unapproved or unknown suppliers, food found in poor or adulterated condition, no written employee health policy, no person in charge present or performing duties, and improper handwashing technique, state inspection records show.
Red Lobster at 5936 International Drive matched that count exactly, also logging 10 high-severity violations. Inspectors there found inadequate shell stock identification records, parasite destruction procedures not followed, food contact surfaces not properly cleaned or sanitized, food not cooked to required minimum temperatures, and no consumer advisory posted for raw or undercooked items.
Those two facilities led a week in which 15 Orlando-area restaurants accumulated high-severity violations, collectively drawing more than 100 citations flagged at the highest risk level.

What These Violations Mean
The illness-reporting failures documented this week at Juicy Bites, Pub Orlando, Miller's Ale House, White Wolf Cafe, Pollos a la Brasa Pio Pio, Dixie Belles Cafe, China Brothers, and Tamale and Company Hourglass carry a specific public health weight. Norovirus, the leading cause of foodborne illness outbreaks in the United States, spreads most efficiently through an infected food worker who handles food without reporting symptoms. A single sick employee working a full shift can expose dozens of customers before the first complaint is filed.
The unapproved food source violations at Juicy Bites, White Wolf Cafe, Pollos a la Brasa Pio Pio, Sazoncito Latin Food, China Brothers, and La Granja are a different category of risk. Food that bypasses USDA or FDA inspection has no traceability chain. If a customer becomes ill, investigators cannot identify the origin of the product, which makes containing an outbreak significantly harder.
Parasite destruction failures at Red Lobster and China Brothers are acutely specific. Fish served raw or lightly cooked, including sushi-grade preparations, must be frozen to kill parasites such as Anisakis before service. Without that step, parasites survive to infect the customer. The violation at a seafood chain with 31 prior inspections on record is particularly notable.
The chemical storage citations at Pub Orlando, White Wolf Cafe, Persis Indian Grill, Pollos a la Brasa Pio Pio, Sazoncito Latin Food, Dixie Belles Cafe, Wing Shack, and China Brothers represent a contamination risk that is not biological. Cleaning chemicals stored near or above food, or in unlabeled containers, can contaminate food directly. Mislabeled chemicals can also be mistaken for food-safe products by other staff members.
The Longer Record
Wing Shack on Michigan Street carries 40 prior inspections on record, the highest count among facilities cited this week, and still drew 8 high-severity violations including two separate chemical storage failures. Dixie Belles Cafe and Pub Orlando each have 38 prior inspections on record. Dixie Belles drew 8 high-severity citations this week, including a failure to demonstrate allergen awareness, a violation that can produce immediate life-threatening reactions in customers with food allergies.
Sazoncito Latin Food has 35 prior inspections on record and drew 8 high-severity violations this week, including food from unapproved sources and specialized process failures. Burntwood Tavern, with 33 inspections on record, still had no person in charge present and inadequate handwashing facilities when inspectors arrived.
Juicy Bites, which led all facilities this week in high-severity violation count, has 23 prior inspections on record. That is a shorter history than several of this week's worst performers, but the 10 high-severity citations it drew, including the absence of any person in charge and no written employee health policy, suggest foundational management failures rather than isolated lapses. Tamale and Company Hourglass also has 23 inspections on record and drew 7 high-severity violations including improper sewage disposal.
Persis Indian Grill, with 18 prior inspections on record, is among the newer facilities in this week's data and already carries 9 high-severity violations. The shell stock identification failure at an Indian restaurant on International Drive, a venue not typically associated with raw shellfish service, raises a question the inspection record does not answer: what shellfish is being sourced, and from where.
