Overview

VW Publix 1080 in The Villages is a vended water establishment that has undergone six FDACS inspections since May 2023 with zero violations on its most recent three inspections. The facility experienced a significant compliance issue in May 2023 when inspectors documented cross-contamination in the sushi prep area, with unwashed whole avocados stored directly above washed ready-to-eat lettuce, ginger, and cut cucumber — a violation corrected on site by moving avocados to the bottom shelf. That same inspection also found time and temperature control failures in the retail sushi display case, where Cali rolls, salmon rolls, and tuna rolls measured 44–47°F internally after 1.5–2 hours at ambient temperature; products were removed and placed in the freezer for rapid cooling. A third violation from the same inspection involved missing operator signatures in the facility's Red Book (special process approval records) and a white rice batch lacking required hold-time documentation, both corrected on site. Since May 2023, four subsequent inspections conducted in February and July 2024 and February and December 2025 have documented zero violations, with lab results provided at each routine offsite inspection.
