Overview

Interdiction Station 16B on Interstate 95 southbound in Yulee is an FDACS checkpoint where commercial food trucks are inspected during transport. Two inspections on record, dating May and September 2023, documented temperature control failures in vehicles carrying perishable foods. In May 2023, an L.M. TRUCKPRO refrigerated truck carrying meat, seafood, and frozen products was stopped with ambient temperatures of 54–57°F. Inspector notes documented a strong odor of rotten seafood, pork spare ribs measured at 50°F internal temperature, beef ribs at 55°F with slight green discoloration, and multiple frozen items (including sea snails, frozen seaweed salad, steamed cakes) stored at 48–55°F. The truck also had raw animal products stored directly atop dry goods, creating cross-contamination risk. A Priority violation was issued for food held under insanitary conditions. In September 2023, a Caravan restaurant supply van was stopped with ambient temperature of 51°F and whole lamb measured at 52°F. The sealed trailer was sent to Orlando for reinspection by FDACS. When opened at destination, internal temperatures of the lamb measured 32–38°F in various cargo sections. The product was released to restaurant management with no further action required. Both inspections reflect the interdiction station's role as a transport checkpoint for foodborne hazard detection, not a licensed food establishment.
