FORT MYERS, FL. Inspectors who walked into Eight Ball Lounge at 14500 S US 41 on September 28, 2026 documented something that stops most food service operations cold: the establishment had no approved potable water supply.

That single violation, which inspectors flagged as high-severity, means the water used for cooking, cleaning, and handwashing at the lounge could not be verified as safe. Non-potable water can carry E. coli, Cryptosporidium, Giardia, and Legionella. It was one of eight high-severity violations cited that day.

The lounge remained open.

Beyond the water supply, inspectors cited the lounge for serving food from unapproved or unknown sources. That violation matters specifically because it breaks the traceability chain: if a customer becomes ill, there is no documented supplier to contact, no lot number to pull, no way to confirm the food ever passed a federal safety inspection.

Parasite destruction procedures were not being followed, and food was not cooked to required minimum temperatures. Those two violations compound each other. Fish and pork that bypass proper freezing or cooking can harbor Anisakis, tapeworms, or Trichinella. Poultry that does not reach 165 degrees Fahrenheit can carry live Salmonella. Both violations were present on the same inspection.

Inspectors also found that employees were not washing their hands adequately and were using improper technique when they did wash. The two violations were cited separately, which indicates inspectors observed both a failure to wash and a failure to wash correctly. Toxic chemicals were improperly stored or labeled near food areas, and the establishment displayed no consumer advisory warning customers about raw or undercooked items.

On the intermediate tier, inspectors found multi-use utensils not properly cleaned, inadequate cold holding equipment, poor ventilation and lighting, and inadequate toilet facilities. All four intermediate violations were also cited on the same day as the eight high-severity findings.

What These Violations Mean

The combination of no potable water and food from unapproved sources is not a paperwork problem. Water that has not been verified safe introduces pathogens at every step of food preparation, from rinsing produce to filling ice machines to the water employees use when they attempt to wash their hands. At Eight Ball Lounge, those handwashing attempts were already flagged as inadequate in both frequency and technique.

Food from unknown sources arriving at a facility with no verified water supply and no functioning parasite destruction protocol creates stacked risk. Inspectors cannot trace where the food originated. There is no federal inspection stamp on record. If that food also moves through a kitchen where cold holding equipment is inadequate, the temperature danger zone, between 40 and 140 degrees Fahrenheit, becomes the environment where that food is stored.

The absence of a consumer advisory compounds the undercooked food violation directly. Customers who are pregnant, elderly, or immunocompromised have no way of knowing they are being served food that may not have reached a safe internal temperature. That information is legally required to be posted precisely for those customers.

Improperly stored chemicals near food areas carry a separate and acute risk: mislabeled or misplaced cleaning compounds have caused chemical poisoning events in food service settings when they contaminate food or surfaces. That violation appeared alongside all of the above on the same inspection day.

The Longer Record

Eight Ball Lounge: Inspection Pattern Since 2021

2026-09-288 high, 4 intermediate violations. Facility remained open.
2025-08-180 high, 0 intermediate violations. Passed.
2025-08-158 high, 4 intermediate violations.
2024-07-165 high, 3 intermediate violations.
2023-10-170 high, 0 intermediate violations. Passed.
2023-08-176 high, 4 intermediate violations.
2023-01-097 high, 2 intermediate violations.
2022-09-026 high, 4 intermediate violations.
2021-11-164 high, 2 intermediate violations.

The September 2026 inspection is not an anomaly. Across 27 inspections on record, Eight Ball Lounge has accumulated 227 total violations. Six of the eight inspections documented between November 2021 and September 2026 produced between four and eight high-severity violations each.

The pattern is specific. The August 2025 inspection produced the identical violation count as September 2026: eight high-severity, four intermediate. Three days after that August 2025 inspection, a follow-up visit showed zero high-severity violations. Eleven months later, the lounge was back to eight.

The lounge has never been emergency-closed in its inspection history, despite accumulating this record across multiple inspection cycles. The two inspections that showed zero violations, in October 2023 and August 2025, each followed inspections with significant high-severity findings. The improvement never held.

As of the September 28, 2026 inspection, Eight Ball Lounge at 14500 S US 41 remained open with eight high-severity violations on record, including no verified potable water supply and food from sources inspectors could not identify.
