Overview

Q + Food LLC, a whole fish processor in Lauderhill, has been inspected 7 times on record since April 2022 with zero violations documented across all inspections. Inspector notes from 2024 inspections document ongoing concerns about waste management practices in the alley behind the facility, where cardboard and foam boxes accumulate in a 30-yard dumpster that cannot be covered, resulting in foul odors and fly activity when collection is delayed over weekends. The facility uses a monthly-serviced septic system for wastewater and receives potable water from the City of Lauderhill. The most recent inspection on June 30, 2025 was a focused inspection conducted offsite to verify receipt of required documentation.

Comments: No wastewater settlement observed at the back of the establishment in the alleyway at this time. An employee was observed hose-washing equipment at the time of inspection. There are a few pot holes observed on the ground in the alleyway. One floor drain is observed in the middle of the alleyway behind the establishment. The floor drain was clear and functional with no backups. No sewage or wastewater backup is observed inside establishment during this visit also. The managing partner stated that they receive potable water from the City of Lauderhill, but have an approved septic system for their wastewater. She stated that her Food Entity is the only business on Septic System in the complex, and this is because of the nature of their business. She provided documentation to verify that the Septic System is serviced on a monthly basis. She stated that the inside of delivery trucks are hose-washed with City Water upon return from making deliveries at the end of each business day. She stated that excess water is removed with a broom and swept directly into the floor drain that leads directly into the septic system, according to their sanitation procedure. The managing partner stated that no waste water from her Food Entity is disposed of onto the main street or onto the public swale. She stated that any excess water settlement could be from a public sprinkler system that is positioned towards the main street and the swale. Two rolloff dumpster containers are observed in the alley way, with no excess garbage, flies or objectionable odor at this time.

No violations or enforcement actions recorded for this inspection.

Comments: Complaint request # 5111023 Insperctor's comments: At the back of establishment in the alley, at the time of inspection, the area was clear of any wastewater, with the exception of a few potholes on the floor. The person in charge stated that when delivery trucks return, employees hose-wash the inside of the truck with City Water, as per their sanitation procedures; subsequently, with the aid of a broom, they push the remainder of the water into the city drain. There was a concerning issue about Waste Management: The food establishment has a 30-yard dump container and a 2-yard garbage disposal, and both are also located in the alley. The food establishment has a service agreement with Waste Management for daily pickup, except Sundays. The empty cardboard and foam boxes are not broken, but dumped in the 30-yard that cannot be covered because employees cannot reach the top; this results in foul odors and accumulation of flies, especially if garbage is kept from Saturday to Monday until it is collected. At the time of my visit on Monday 03-11-24, the 30-yard container had not been picked up yet. In addition, all the empty cardboard and foam boxes received after Saturday's pick up, overloaded the 30-yard container, were left on the ground in the alley.

No violations or enforcement actions recorded for this inspection.
